Since hub and I were talking about how to get around not having a GM for TTRPGs, we got the Mythic Game Master Emulator. I've just received it, and I think it'll be a great resource for us. He also told me about the Lone Wolf series of solo RPG books. Do you remember the Choose Your Own Adventure books? It's along those lines but with game rules. The author died, but his son is going to finish the final books his father planned on releasing. The author, Joe Dever, kindly gave permission to Project Aon to release some of his work for free online.

An error popped up on my CPAP machine basically telling me that it's dying. I've been using it nightly for about ten years, so I figure that's a good run. I have an appointment on Friday to get a new one. Whoever invented that thing has my deepest gratitude. Restful sleep is a blessing.

Bridget keeps chewing on wounds on her foot and ankle, so I'm changing wound dressings everyday. We're going to try a liquid bandage for animals product and see if that helps. She was wearing different things, i.e. a onesie or a brace, but for several reasons they weren't great, so I switched to bandages. We're keeping an eye on her.

I made chocolate chip scones and substituted Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour. The taste is good, though they're a tad dry. I'll try it again with a little more liquid.

comments

I know it's still technically summer, and we're slated for 90-degree temps next week, but fall is coming and I love it. Happy September.

I did a short chair yoga session to prepare for doing yard work in hopes that it might help with knee soreness that usually happens after I'm done with said work. I'll see how I feel tonight.

J bought a Clue game that two players can play as well as Goonies Monopoly. We were like a couple of kids talking about upcoming game nights.

I'm making a journal for myself with some old bookbinding supplies both J and I had stored away. He's done much more than me and has been reminding me of the process.

That segues into the perfect opportunity to make a Fannish Fifty entry for #20 this year for The Goonies. It's probably mostly nostalgia for a lot of us of a certain age, but I still think it's a fun flick. Here's a clip where The Goonies meet the Fratellis.

comments

Thankfully, I'm able to use my phone for some work tasks.

We played an easy dice game called Farkle last night. J is buying a card table today for the weekly game nights we have planned.

Yesterday, when I was mowing the lawn, a baby going for a walk with his family was pushing a toy mower. When he got to my yard, he started to "help" me mow the lawn. I yelled out, "Thank you." I should've asked him to bring his weed trimmer next time. 😃

comments

Hubs and I played a few rounds of Zombie Dice, a Steve Jackson game, tonight. It was fun. Each player is a zombie, and the goal is to get the most brains to win. After that, we were motivated to dig out GURPS books, another Steve Jackson D&D-like game, we bought two decades ago and only played one game with a group. I'm now on a mission to find ways to have a two-person game without a GM. I've come across some videos I put in my YouTube queue and one article so far here. We're going to shoot for Saturday game nights depending on my work schedule. Besides GURPS, we've got some old standbys like Yahtzee, Scrabble, and Monopoly.

comments
