Is a cocktail part of fandom? I don't know, but the original Fannish Fifty post says I can post on anything for 50 fan posts in 2023, so here goes.

I believe my husband first learned about the drink called Dark and Stormy through some Lovecraftian podcast he listens to (possibly the HPLHS but don't quote me). He made one for me, albeit the weaker barely a drinker version, and I was impressed. It's basically a mix of ginger beer, dark rum, and lime juice. The podcast he listened to suggested Kraken Rum and Bundaberg ginger beer from Australia. It's yummy. Check out the recipe on the Bundaberg site.

Being from Michigan, it feels almost sacrilegious not to suggest Vernors ginger ale, but I don't think it would work in this drink at all. YMMV.

comments
