"Slap me," UFO story, and car

We were at Kroger with separate carts and J was somewhere else in the store. This dude, maybe mid 60s, is holding a couple of sets of beets. He was vocally baffled why someone would choose the smaller set. After that, I'm a bit foggy on his exact words. He comes over to me and says something like, "Slap me" and "we're fucked up." I said something congenial so as not to set him off (basic female survival mechanism), smiled and nodded and got the hell away. J thinks he was flirting with me. Lol, what?

While cleaning out the area for the new pantry, I found the dog's old purple UFO squeaky toy. I cleaned the dust bunnies off and gave it to her. She cried like we've never seen her cry with a toy. We didn't know what was wrong. We took it away to see if it would help, but she wanted it back, so we gave it back to her for a while. A Google search says that sometimes dogs do that when they value a toy so much or they want you to play with it with them. We were scared at first because we thought that she was in pain. She hasn't seen this toy in years. I wonder if dogs remember things like that.

The car needs new brake calipers and the dealer quoted J $1600. I have no idea if that's reasonable, but J said yes to the dealer. It should be fixed by Tuesday hopefully.

comments
